Chapter 1 Article

Summary:

This article talks about how being Eco-friendly would help the economy. Kevin Parker (head of Deutsche Asset Management) estimates that it would take about $700 billion to have this project completed. He started convincing banks to invest in products centered on businesses to help lessen global warming. A lot of the people, companies, and businesses wanted to become an independent power producer so that they wouldn't have to be paying only once place in the city for. People have already started asking questions about Parker's plan. Parker thinks that he is going the right direction since the United States have been behind on the climate change issue.

Connections:

The article perfectly fits with the chapter 1 in the book. It would have the scarcity value of pollution reduced. We have been having a lot of pollutions like cars that are not hybrid, non-green school supplies, and non Eco-friendly clothing. Economics is all about scarcity and to see if we have a limited amount or supply. By going green now, we could try to prevent anything from being scarce. A lot of the big companies like Apple have been recently making their iPods with Eco-friendly materials like recycled material and no mercury.

Personal Reflection:

I think that going green is what everyone should do. Going green now will help the world to become a better place. It would save our environment with less pollution. The government has been encouraging people to buy hybrid cars (by letting you trade in old cars) which causes it to use less gas so that there would be more gas for others in the future. Energy saving appliances like refrigerators, microwaves, and stoves are sold everywhere and people should be using them. People should start using more of the plastic containers and reusing them instead of using styrofoams because styrofoams take a really long time to turn back into what it was before. So to make this world better, we should all go green.
